Congratulations to RLST readers on the World Intellectual Property Day!
This holiday was established in 2000 by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The yearly celebration of this day shows the broad acknowledgement of intellectual property role in the development of the world civilization and the world around us. In 2009, WIPO focuses on the assistance to the development of green innovations as the foundation of the reliable future, which was stressed in the speech made by WIPO Director General Francis Gurry on the occasion of the World Intellectual Property Day.

From April 10 to 24, 2009, an exhibition of literature called, "Aviation and Cosmonautics of XXI Century" dedicated to the World Day of Aviation and Cosmonautics is open in the RLST Information Center.

On April 9, 2009, a regional seminar for employees of scientific technical libraries and patent services took part in the Brest Regional Scientific Technical Library, a branch of RLST.  
The following issues were considered:
- Informational resources of RLST and Brest branch for patent research;
- Interlibrary exchange system and electronic document delivery in the system of RLST infocommunicational technologies;
- Informational resources of legal and normative information for employees of scientific technical enterprises and organizations of Belarus;
- The activities of the Consulting Center of the Brest branch related to industrial property;
- Informational and library services in the Brest branch for employees of enterprises and organizations;
The participants could get acquainted with an exhibition of materials about intellectual property and were advised about organization of working procedure in patent services and scientific technical libraries.
 Among the participants of the seminar there were employees of scientific technical libraries of the following enterprises: Brestgazoapparat, Brest Carpets, Tsvetotron Plant, public corporations BELZ, BEMZ, and more.

On April 2, 2009, a regional seminar for employees of scientific technical libraries and patent services took part in the Mogilev Regional Scientific Technical Library, a branch of RLST.  
The following issues were considered:
- Informational resources of RLST and Mogilev branch for patent research;
- Interlibrary exchange system and electronic document delivery in the system of RLST infocommunicational technologies;
- Informational resources of legal and normative information for employees of scientific technical enterprises and organizations of Belarus;
- The activities of the Consulting Center of the Mogilev branch related to industrial property;
- Informational and library services in the Mogilev branch for employees of enterprises and organizations;
The participants could get acquainted with an exhibition of materials about intellectual property and were advised about organization of working procedure in patent services and scientific technical libraries.
Among the participants of the seminar there were employees of scientific technical libraries of the following enterprises: Bobruiskagromash, Belarusrezinotekhnika, Mogilevkhimvolokno, Technopribor, Zenit, Mogilevsky ZIV, and more.

From April 7 to June 7, 2009, a test access to full-text Learned Journals Collection (ALJC) of the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) free of charge. ALJC 2009 published in partnership with Swets, the world’s leading subscriptions services company, represents 773 titles from 49 publishers making up the full set consisted of the following collections:
Science (148 titles);
Social sciences (158 titles);
Technologies (126 titles);
also,
Archeology and history (67 titles);
Law (45 titles);
Life Sciences (93 titles);
Linguistics and Arts (96 titles);
Medicine (151 titles);
Religion and Philosophy (74 titles).

Since April 1, 2009 an exhibition Sustainable Development for Healthy Nation, which features literature from Sustainable Development Library collection has been available in the Information Center (Room 607). The event is dedicated to the World Health Day celebrated on April 7 since 1950.

A new exposition called, "Ways to Increase Power Efficiency in Industry and Housing and Communal Services" opened as part of the permanent exhibition on energy saving on April 1.
