In the information centre of the Republican library for science and technology within the framework of constantly working exhibition "Economy and thrift are the factors of economic development of a country" the exhibition "Energy is the basis of Belarus sustainable development" is open from 1st till 31st August.
The books and periodicals from the stocks of RLST and Library on sustainable development are represented on the exposition, which uncover the theme in the deepest way and arose library visitors interest. On the exposition there are such publications as "The Republic of Belarus: system principles of sustainable development", "Problems of energy resources savings - new solutions", "Energy economy", "Annual reports of International agency of nuclear power", "Methodic recommendations with respect to compiling technological and economic bases for energy management activities", magazines "Energy efficiency" and "Energy saving" and many others.

From 1st till 12th August exhibition "The young and eradicating of poverty", devoted to International Youth Day is held in the Information centre (r.607). International Youth Day was set up by UN General Assembly on 17 December 1999 and is celebrated on 12 August annually. UN Secretary General appealed to the international community to admit interdependently of generations and solve problems of different ages collectively.
Nowadays there are almost 3 billion inhabitants up to 25 years of age. More than half-billion of them live in poverty. Every day 7 thousand young people are infected with HIV/AIDS.
Exhibition visitors can get acquainted with such editions as: "The youth of Belarus on the threshold of the 3-rd millenium", "UN Development Program provides access to sources of knowledge, experience and resources for Belarus which help people build a better life", " Poverty of a period of transition", "Report on human development" published by UNDP. A great mass of information on fight against global epidemic of AIDS, ways of solution of this problem can be found in magazines "UN Chronicles", which the library got regularly as a gift from UN Representatives in Belarus.
