New information resource! The free access to GreenFILE database provided by EBSCOPubishing Group is opened at RLST. The subjects of database publications are the environmental preservation, waste processing, hybrid cars and electromobiles, solar batteries and many other things.
The database is focused on problems of environment protection. Database GreenFILE covers issues on aspects of human impact to the environment. The resource contains the data obtained by the scientific researches. This database provides more than 600 titles of periodicals including: Bioscience, Conservation Biology, Journal of Environmental Planning and Management, Journal of Ecology, etc.
The database will be of interest to theoreticians as well as to experts. Access to the database is arranged at the reading room of periodicals (Room 614).

From 13 till 15 May RLST was taking part in 12th international exhibition «Energy conservation», which was held at the Byelorussian industrial forum, and it was awarded the honorary diploma for a substantial exposition and information support of the forum programme. Publications from the library collection on alternative power problems, the facility management on the basis of use of indigenous fuels, development of renewable energy sources, use of fuel from renewable and exhaustible energy sources have been exhibited.
Exposition of RLST aroused much interest with the participants and visitors to the exhibition. For three days of work 512 consultations on collections and library services were given.
Within the framework of the business programme of the Byelorussian industrial forum the workshop “Alternative power industry: efficient and balanced wildlife management”, arranged by RLST, was held.

Since 12th May, 2008 the literature exhibition from library sustainable development collection covering the subject: «Climate change and biological variety», devoted to the International day of biological variety, which is annually marked on May 22nd, has been held at the Information Centre (R. 607).

Within the framework of the ongoing exhibition on energy saving the new exhibition "Atomic engineering" has started at the Information centre of the Republican library for science and technology.

At the Republican library for science and technology at the meeting of scientific cafe «Experience of Slovenian rural development for realisation of programmes of the Byelorussian village revival» the meeting with the member of International PREPARE network (European programme for rural development), director of regional development agency of Prleshko region (Slovenia) farmer Goran Schoster took place.
