2007 г.
• On February 2007 the presentation of the second edition of the book
"Sustainable development strategy of Disnensk Territory" was held in
the Republican library for science and technology (first published in 2005). It
was prepared within the framework of UNDP project realization "Sustainable
development at the local level" under Sivogradcov Oleg. Representatives
of Disnensk Territory (Mior Region) jointly with Belarusian and foreign experts
were the first in Belarus who worked out local sustainable development strategy
(Local agenda for the 21st century), that aims at improving the well-being of
population, wildlife conservation and cultural heritage without limiting the opportunities
and needs of future generations. The document is in great demand. By the example
of Disnensk Territory a lot of regions, cities and villages of Belarus started
working in the direction of sustainable development. The additional book edition
was required. It was realized due to financial support of UN mass media department
in Belarus and organizational support of the International humanitarian and educational
fund "Live partnership". The presentation was held in traditional form
as "Scientific cafe on sustainable development", where it was discussed
the way of realization of the sustainable development Strategy of Disnensk Territory
in 2005-2006, and also experience exchange of such work in the other local communities
of Belarus. After the presentation there were 18 recreated information corners
on sustainable development almost in every region of Belarus. In Minsk the International
Sukharov State Environmental University, gymnasiums and public organizations work
with the Library on sustainable development.
3rd May, 2007 The regular Scientific cafe on sustainable
development was held in RLST. Within the framework of this particular expert club
the presentation of Oleg Sivogradcov's book "Thinking globally, acting locally
(Sustainable Development Strategies - Local agenda for the 21st century in Belarus)"
was held. Sustainable development activists from Vitebsk, Minsk, Grodno, Brest
regions and also from Minsk participated in the session. Oleg Sivogradcov is the
author of the book, candidate of economic science, one of creators of the joint
project UNDP and the Government of the Republic of Belarus on sustainable development
National strategy of the Republic of Belarus for the period until 2020, expert
of the Program of Belarus support by the Federal Government of Germany. The
monograph is focused upon the practical experience of development and realization
of Local agenda in regions, cities, villages of Belarus, accumulated from 1999
till 2006. The main principles, modes and mechanism of connection between the
theoretical elaborations in sustainable development and their applications are
analyzed. The legislative and institutional foundations of realization of Local
agenda are expounded. O. Sivogradcov addresses his book to all adherents of sustainable
development conception: the executive committees' employees and deputies of local
Councils, representatives of public organizations and funds, instructors and students,
active people, interested in developing of their "small homeland".
